This course from the American Heart Association has been updated to reflect new science based on the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

A course that introduces healthcare providers to normal cardiac rhythms and prepares them to recognize basic cardiac arrhythmias in clinical practice. Electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythm recognition is a key skill required to be successful in determining a patient’s condition and knowing which treatment algorithm to apply. This course allows healthcare providers to gain proficiency in ECG rhythm recognition in an effort to provide better treatment and improve patient outcomes.


  1. Basic rhythm understanding
  2. The relationship between the ECG strip and heart impulses
  3. Common arrhythmias
  4. Identifying and distinguishing various arrhythmias
